Mango butter is an excellent choice for making homemade soap because of its many benefits for the skin:

Tips and Tricks for the Soap Maker :
During the summer, I make soaps with mango butter and/or use it in my solid shampoos. This combination allows you to benefit from the moisturizing and nourishing virtues of mango butter, both for your skin and your hair, with a formula perfectly adapted to your summer needs.
Its saponification value:
The saponification value of Mango Butter is 136, which means that 0.136 g of NAOH soda are needed to saponify 1 g of mango butter.
This information will help you calculate your own recipe.
In your calculator, choose "Mango Butter" or "Mango Seed Butter".
The recommended content in your recipe is 3% to 6% maximum.
Unsaponifiables are :
- Phytosterols (including beta-sitosterol, campesterol, avenasterol): Improves skin barrier function and microcirculation, slows skin aging, anti-inflammatory properties.
- Oleyl alcohol: Emulsifier and emollient.
- Squalene: Helps regenerate stratum corneum lipid cement (naturally present in skin and sebum).
- Polyphenols (including catechin, epicatechin, propyl benzoate): Powerful antioxidants, capture free radicals, stimulate collagen synthesis.
Tips :
- Hardness and softness: Mango butter makes the soap hard and soft, ideal for prolonged use of your soap and a pleasant sensation on the skin.
- Fine foam: Helps create a light, creamy foam, adding a touch of luxury to your soap.
- Fast trace: Speeds up the trace process, requiring fast, efficient preparation of molds and additions.
Additions / Superfatting :
- Exfoliants: Add natural exfoliants like sugar, Dead Sea salt or apricot kernel powder for a gentle exfoliating effect.
- Natural colorants: Use clays, such as pink or green clay, to color the soap and provide additional properties beneficial to the skin.
- Dried herbs and flowers: Lavender, calendula or chamomile can be added for their properties and fragrance. They also give the soap an attractive appearance.
- Milk and honey: Add goat's milk, almond milk, etc... Or a little honey for added sweetness at the end of the trace...
Directions for use for solid shampoo and conditioner:
Incorporating mango butter into your solid shampoo can therefore transform the hair care experience, leaving it nourished, protected and visibly more beautiful.
Add 10 grams of Mango Butter to your solid shampoo or conditioner recipe.
- Deep Moisturizer: intensely nourishes scalp and hair without weighing them down, thanks to its richness in essential fatty acids.
- Softener : Improves hair texture, making it soft and easy to detangle.
- Antioxidant: Protects hair from environmental damage thanks to its high content of vitamins A, C and E.
- Regenerating : Promotes cell regeneration for healthy hair and scalp.
- Natural Shine: Adds natural shine to hair by moisturizing and nourishing it.
- Split-ends prevention: Helps prevent split-ends by strengthening hair ends.
- Soothing: Calms scalp irritations thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, making the shampoo suitable for sensitive scalps.
Mussels:
Be aware that the reaction between soda and oils can generate heat. Use our specially designed molds, and monitor the temperature throughout the process to avoid the freezing phase in your soaps.
These molds are flexible, making them easy to remove from the mold once the soap has hardened. What's more, they enable better heat retention during the saponification process, promoting optimal soap setting.
Composition of Mango Butter :
Saturated fatty acids :
- Palmitic acid: 14 - 33%.
- Stearic acid: 14 - 24%.
Monounsaturated fatty acids :
- Oleic acid (omega-9): 35-45%.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids :
- Linoleic acid: 6 - 16%.
- Linolenic acid: 0.5 - 1.6%.
Fatty acid composition - Gas chromatography :
- Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA): Oleic acid (35-45%)
- Saturated fatty acids (SFA): Stearic acid (37-47%), Palmitic acid (5-18%)
Extraction process :
Mango butter is extracted from the pits of mango fruit. After harvesting and separating the flesh, the pits are cleaned and dried. The butter is then obtained by cold-pressing the almonds contained in the kernels, thus retaining the moisturizing and nourishing properties of the oil.
How to store Mango Butter :
To preserve the freshness and properties of Mango Butter:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Make sure it's securely closed.
- It generally keeps for up to 12 months after opening.
