Tips and Tricks for the Soap Maker :
As a complement to Sesame Oil, Sweet Almond Oil is extraordinary for the skin of babies and young children. Its softness and nourishing properties make it the ideal choice for caring for delicate skin.
Personally, I love combining it with marigold petals, which I add to the trace, for an even softer, gentler soap.
A real family favorite, this soap is suitable for all skin types, from the most sensitive to the most demanding. Mom and baby will be delighted with its 2-in-1 formula, ideal for baby's skin and for soothing stretch marks after childbirth, restoring tone and radiance to the skin of the tummy.
Unsaponifiables :
- Vitamin E (tocopherols): Powerful antioxidant that helps protect skin from free radical damage and helps extend the life of cosmetic products by preventing rancidity of oils.
- Phytosterols:
- Beta-sitosterol: Helps reduce skin inflammation and is used for its soothing and repairing properties, particularly useful for sensitive and irritated skin.
- Campesterol: Also helps reduce skin inflammation and may improve symptoms of certain skin conditions.
- Squalene: An excellent moisturizer, it mimics the skin's own sebum, helping to maintain skin's natural hydration and prevent moisture loss.
Its saponification value:
The saponification value of Sweet Almond Oil is 136, which means that 0.136 g of NAOH soda are needed to saponify 1 g of Sweet Almond Oil. This information will help you calculate your own recipe.
In your calculator, choose "Huile d'Amande douce" or "Almond Oil".
It's an unstable oil that gives us a long-lasting trace. Its content in your recipe will be between 4% and 10% maximum.
Tips and tricks:
Mix Sweet Almond Oil with other skin-friendly oils, such as Safflower Oil or Shea Butter, to create a balanced, nourishing soap..
Sweet Almond Oil tends to produce a light to moderate trace in cold saponification, allowing greater flexibility in creating patterns or marbling in the soap.
Additions/ Overfatting:
When I use this oil in my recipes, I don't hesitate to add calendula petals or an apricot kernel peel.
Sweet Almond Oil can be added at the end of the trace, in surgras, (max 10%) to bring additional moisturizing properties to the soap and its soothing and nourishing benefits to the final formula, but avoid over-using it to avoid a soap that's too soft or out of phase.
Mussels:
Be aware that the reaction between soda and oils can generate heat. Use our special molds and monitor the temperature throughout the process to avoid freezing your soaps.
Our molds are flexible, making them easy to remove from the mold once the soap has hardened. What's more, they enable better heat retention during the saponification process, promoting optimal soap setting.

Extraction process :
The extraction of sweet almond oil begins with the grinding of shelled sweet almonds. The crushed kernels are then mechanically pressed, either cold or hot, to release the oil contained in the cells. The resulting mixture is then centrifuged to separate the oil from solid particles and impurities. After this process, the sweet almond oil is filtered to remove the last impurities and obtain a pure, clear product. Finally, the oil is packaged in appropriate containers, ready for use in a variety of cosmetic and culinary applications.
