Benefits and Properties :
Our sunflower oil is renowned for its exceptional moisturizing power, thanks to its high omega 6 content. We tend to leave this oil in the kitchen, but in soap-making it works miracles!

Tips and Tricks for the Soap Maker :
In the art of soapmaking, it's easy to underestimate the virtues of oleic sunflower oil. Yet this precious resource is a jewel for marbling our soaps. Rich in oleic acids, the main constituents of omega-9s, it offers exceptional emollient properties. By incorporating it into our creations, we magnify the art of soap-making while cherishing the health and beauty of the skin.
Unsaponifiables:
- Vitamin E (tocopherols): A powerful antioxidant that helps protect skin from free radical damage and prolongs product durability by preventing rancidity.
- Carotenoids (including beta-carotene): Help protect skin from sun damage and can improve skin's appearance by giving it a natural glow.
- Phytosterols:
- Beta-sitosterol: Known for its soothing and repairing properties, it is particularly beneficial for sensitive or irritated skin.
- Campesterol: Helps reduce skin inflammation and may support the skin barrier.
- Squalene: Although less concentrated than in some other oils, the squalene in sunflower oil helps keep skin hydrated, making it soft and smooth.
Its saponification value
:
The saponification value of sunflower oil is 131, which means that 0.131 g of NAOH soda (Link to soda lye or soda pearl) are needed to saponify 1 g of sunflower oil. This information will help you calculate your own recipe.
In your calculator, choose "Sunflower oil" or "Sun Flower".
This oil is sensitive to oxidation, so its content in your recipe should be between 5% and 15% maximum.
Tips :
Sunflower oil is a wise choice for soap marbling techniques due to its slow trace, offering flexibility in color manipulation. When working with this oil, you can divide your soap dough, incorporating vibrant colors with micas or natural dyes, and create intricate, artistic patterns during pouring.
However, it's important to note that sunflower oil is prone to instability and can go rancid quickly. Consequently, we recommend limiting its use to 10% in your soap recipe to preserve its freshness and quality.
For the best possible experience, be sure to use your soaps within 4 months of their cure, giving them at least 4 weeks' rest after manufacture.
By following these tips, you can create beautiful, long-lasting marble soaps, capturing the sun's radiance and nature's richness in every bar.
Additions / Superfatting
:
The addition of clays and plant extracts can be easily integrated into your sunflower oil recipe. Be sure to incorporate them into the oils before adding the lye or your soda pearl. Dissolve the clays in the oils, mix thoroughly with a mixer, then add your washing soda.
Mussels:
Be aware that the reaction between soda and oils can generate heat. Use our special molds and monitor the temperature throughout the process to avoid freezing your soaps.
Our molds are flexible, making them easy to remove from the mold once the soap has hardened. What's more, they enable better heat retention during the saponification process, promoting optimal soap setting.

Add 10 ml sunflower oil to your solid shampoo recipe. Works perfectly with Sesame oil
