Organic Deodorized Cocoa Butter
“Cocoa Butter is made from cocoa beans, the seeds contained in the pods of cocoa trees. The resulting cocoa butter is a natural product rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, widely used in home and pharmaceutical cosmetics for its moisturizing, emollient and protective properties.”
We offer deodorized cocoa butter, a naturally rich product obtained from cocoa beans whose characteristic aroma has been carefully eliminated, providing a neutral option ideal for your homemade soaps.
Benefits and properties:
The use of cocoa butter in homemade soaps offers deep hydration thanks to its essential fatty acids, keeping skin soft and supple. What's more, Cocoa Butter adds hardness to your soaps, which is an important element in your homemade recipes.
Its emollient and nourishing properties help prevent skin dryness and protect the skin's natural barrier, providing gentle cleansing while preserving its balance.
-
- Stearic fatty acid (33.2%): Emollient, thickening, nourishing and protective.
- Oleic fatty acid (32.6%): Hypocholesterolemic.
- Palmitic fatty acid (25.4%): Texturizing, softening and emulsifying.
- Linoleic fatty acid (omega 6 essential/ 2.8%): Helps build the cell membrane and maintain a healthy skin barrier.
For which skin type
:
- Particularly suitable for dry, dehydrated skin.
- Emollient and nourishing properties.
- Deeply moisturizes and restores skin suppleness.
- Soothes sensitive skin.
- Excellent for stretch marks and pregnancy.
- Fights the effects of aging, pollution and stress with its antioxidant power.
Tips and tricks for the soap-maker:
Cocoa butter is often underestimated in soap-making and home cosmetics, despite its extraordinary properties.
Often used as a hardener in our recipes, cocoa butter can also give you a natural chocolate scent, particularly appreciated by children.
Its Saponification value :
The saponification value of cocoa butter is 137, which means that it will take 0.137 g of NAOH soda lye to saponify 1 g of cocoa butter.
This information will help you calculate your own recipe.
In your calculator, choose "Cocoa Butter" or "Beurre de Cacao".
Tips :
- When putting together your recipe, bear in mind that there is a maximum % contribution for certain oils and butters.
- For Cocoa Butter, we recommend a maximum contribution of 5% to 20%.
- It is not recommended to make a 100% Cocoa Butter soap. Your soap will be crumbly and won't cut properly.
- If you use the Safour technique, it's a good idea to over-grease your soaps with cocoa butter, thanks to its unsaponifiable content.
Additions :
We've chosen to offer you deodorized Cocoa Butter, so you can use all the fragrances and essential oils you want. If you choose Beurre de Cacao Brut, you'll be able to enjoy the scent of chocolate in your soap for a long time to come.
Adding fragrance or EO would be a bit risky, and the resulting scent would not be the most pleasant.
The trace
:
Cocoa butter will harden your soap, which is interesting if your recipe is made up of so-called "fragile" oils, such as apricot oil, safflower oil, etc. Cocoa butter will accelerate the trace, as will shea butter.
Depending on the quantity used in your recipe, Cocoa butter won't add much mousse or creaminess.
Molds With no more than 20% used in recipes, all molds are ideal for your preparations.
Directions for use for solid shampoo and conditioner:
Sun, pollution, hairspray, coloring, cold... all these factors relentlessly attack hair fibers. Simply add 10g of Cocoa Butter to your solid shampoo recipe.
- Care for split ends and dry or curly hair, providing moisture and vitality
Extraction procedure:
The production of cocoa butter begins with the harvesting of the cocoa pods. The beans are then extracted, fermented, dried and roasted to intensify their aromas.
After grinding, the beans are pressed to extract the cocoa oil, or cocoa butter. The latter is cooled and sometimes filtered to obtain a pure product.
