Hemp Seed Oil is renowned for its many benefits for the skin.

It is moisturizing, nourishing, regenerating, soothing and anti-inflammatory.

Rich in essential fatty acids, notably omega-3 and omega-6, as well as vitamins and minerals, it helps restore the skin's natural balance and prevent the signs of skin aging.

Properties:

  • Anti-aging and regenerating: Its essential fatty acids fight free radicals and promote regeneration of the skin's hydrolipidic film, helping to reduce the signs of aging.
  • Calming: Soothes redness and skin irritation, providing relief for sensitive skin.
  • Emollient: By reducing water loss, it protects skin from dehydration, leaving it soft and hydrated.
  • Fast absorption: This "dry" oil penetrates quickly without leaving a greasy film, making it ideal for massages and body care.
  • Firming and softening: Helps maintain skin's elasticity, giving it a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Advice for every skin type:

  • Dry skin: deeply moisturizes and restores the skin's hydrolipidic film.
  • Oily skin: Regulates sebum production and helps prevent imperfections.
  • Sensitive skin: soothes irritation and redness, and calms skin reactions.
  • Mature skin: nourishes and regenerates the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, excellent anti-wrinkle.

Tips and Tricks for the Soapmaker :

Hemp oil in homemade soapmaking offers intense hydration thanks to its essential fatty acid content. Its lightness and ability to penetrate the skin quickly make it an ideal ingredient for cold-saponified soaps, preserving the beneficial properties of the oil.

What's more, its anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties help soothe and revitalize the skin, providing a luxurious skincare experience.

Unsaponifiables:

  • Vitamin E (tocopherols): A natural antioxidant that helps protect skin from oxidative damage and improves the longevity of skincare products by preventing oils from going rancid.
  • Phytosterols:
    • Beta-sitosterol: Offers anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, making it ideal for treating sensitive, irritated skin.
    • Campesterol: Helps reduce skin inflammation and supports a healthy skin barrier.
  • Carotenoids: Although present in small quantities, they provide antioxidant properties and can help protect the skin against UV damage.
  • Terpenes:
    • Myrcene, Limonene, and Pinene: These compounds offer various therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects that can be beneficial in soap formulations for problem skin.
  • Chlorophyll: Gives hemp oil its characteristic green color and offers detoxifying and skin-repairing properties.

Its saponification value:

The saponification value of Hemp Oil is 135, which means that 0.135 g of NAOH soda are needed to saponify 1 g of Hemp Oil. This information will help you calculate your own recipe.

In your calculator, choose "Hemp Oil" or " Huile de Chanvre".

This oil is sensitive to oxidation, so its content in your recipe should be between 3% and 15% maximum.

Tips and tricks:

  • Incorporate 3-15% Hemp Seed Oil into your soap recipes to benefit from its moisturizing and nourishing properties. For my part, I don't go beyond 10%. Being an unstable oil, I prefer to supplement my recipes with Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil or Coconut Butter.
  • Add it to the fine trace of soap to preserve its benefits for the skin.

The trace:

  • When adding Hemp Oil to the trace, be sure to do so gently and meticulously to avoid any separation or lumps in your mixture.
  • Hemp Oil tends to be light and quickly absorbed, so incorporate it gradually to ensure even distribution in your soap mixture.
  • Being an unstable oil, even a small quantity in your recipe will trace quickly. So be careful when choosing the oils for your recipe.
  • Use in natural coloring: Can be used to add natural color to soaps, giving a green tint that makes it an ideal choice for those practicing eco-friendly soapmaking.

Additions/ Overfatting:

  • Combining Hemp Oil with other oils can balance the soap. Coconut Butter for hardness, Macadamia Oil for hydration and Shea Butter for its nourishing effect are ideal complements.
  • Saponification temperature: Maintain a moderate temperature during the process, between 35°C and 40°C, to promote a good reaction without accelerating the trace.

Mussels:

Our molds are flexible, making them easy to remove from the mold once the soap has hardened. What's more, they enable better heat retention during the saponification process, promoting optimal soap setting.

Be aware that the reaction between soda and oils can generate heat. Use our special molds and monitor the temperature throughout the process to avoid freezing your soaps.

How to use our solid shampoos and conditioners:

Add 10 ml Hemp Seed Oil to your solid shampoo or conditioner recipe.

Be sure to mix well so that the oil is evenly distributed throughout the solid shampoo.

  • For curly or wavy hair: Hemp Seed Oil nourishes the hair fiber without weighing down curls, preserving their natural volume and leaving them supple and bouncy. Use daily to maintain moisture and prevent dehydration.
  • Frizzy or afro hair: applied directly to the hair or as a mask, Hemp Seed Oil combats dryness, bringing shine and vitality to strands. The essential fatty acids in this oil help compensate for sebum deficiency, facilitate detangling and reduce hair breakage.
  • For fine hair: Hemp oil, rich in vitamins and proteins, offers fortifying properties, revitalizing hair and improving its density. Use it regularly for apparently stronger, fuller hair and to prevent split ends.

Hemp oil composition:

Fatty acids :

  • Essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (vitamin F): linoleic acid (omega-6) , linolenic acid (omega-3).
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: oleic acid (omega-9).
  • Saturated fatty acids: palmitic acid, stearic acid.

Omega-3 and 6: Omega-3 and omega-6, essential fatty acids, contribute to skin regeneration, membrane fluidity and anti-inflammatory processes, while maintaining hydration and soothing the skin.

  • Botanical name: Cannabis sativa
  • Appearance: Golden green liquid
  • Odour: Light, characteristic of hemp
  • Texture: Light and non-greasy, easily absorbed by the skin
