Its saponification value

The saponification value of shea butter is 128, which means that 0.128 g of NAOH soda are needed to saponify 1 g of shea butter. This information will help you calculate your own recipe.

The advantage of Shea Butter is that it is rich in unsaponifiable elements, which makes its properties so exceptional for our skin.

Tips

• Shea butter can be dosed at between 5% and 30% maximum in your recipe, but it's also possible to make a recipe with 100% shea without any problem.
• Shea butter makes a hard, soft soap. As for the bubbles, you'll get a fine, creamy mousse.

Additives/ Superfatting

• In a recipe with a shea butter component, any addition is possible.
• If you want to make a 100% Shea butter soap, the scent of Shea butter will take precedence over the scents of your fragrances and essential oils. Something to think about!

The trace

• During cold saponification, it contributes to a creamy, faster trace.
